Crackerjack Sport Fishing is Seward’s first and only provider of Alaskan long range fishing trips!

Crackerjack Sport Fishing is pleased to offer long range overnight and multiple day fishing trips to the final frontier of sport fishing in Alaska: Montague and Middleton Islands and the western boundary of the Kenai Fjords National Park. These areas offer some of the best fishing in Alaska for halibut, lingcod, yellow-eyed rockfish and salmon. Expect to see great shallow water fishing action. These areas have a vast reef structures and nutrient rich upwelling currents that attract clouds of baitfish and in turn big game fish. In 2004, 22 IGFA light tackle line class world records were broken on our long range fishing trips!

Trips depart at 6 am and return by 5 pm of the last fishing day. Additional days can be added, either onboard or at a remote Alaska fishing lodge.

Our long range fishing trips begin in Seward, where our guests will meet at our boardwalk office early in the morning of the trip. After a complete safety orientation and description of the plan for the trip, we get underway to the fishing grounds. Expect a 3 to 5 hour run to reach the best areas for our first day of fishing. Your crew will set up all the gear for the trip and provide your group with instruction on the techniques we will be using. You may wish to view the scenery, watch a movie, or take a nap on the way to the fishing grounds.

After our first day of fishing, we will take a short run to a safe harbor to anchor for the night. Early next morning, we are back at the fishing grounds, catching fish. In the mid-afternoon of your last day, we return to Seward. The long-range trips give fishermen a chance to fish areas simply out of the range of day trips. You will get many extra hours on the fishing grounds increasing the chances for catching quality fish. Fishermen can retain two limits of most species on these trips.

We customize the trip to your exact desires and expectations. We can target a multitude of species including halibut, lingcod, rockfish, salmon or sharks. On these trips we encourage our guests to fish with lighter tackle and a combination of lures and bait to maximize fishing enjoyment. Expect to be far from the crowds in areas that seldom see fishing pressure.

The Boat & Equipment

Our new long range boat is the measure of quality among sport fishing boats in Alaska. Crackerjack Voyager is a custom 46′ fiberglass boat, built Alaskan tough by Modutech Marine. This vessel is one of the newest and fastest charter fishing vessels on the west coast built in 2005. The Voyager is powered with big, electronically controlled, Cummins turbo diesels, with over 810 horsepower. Her range and cruising speed of 24 knots open up huge areas of seldom-fished waters. Unique features like our on board entertainment system (DVD, CD, VCR), Hydronic heating system, satellite communications system, a full fish around deck, a huge insulated fish hold and a large live bait tank will make your long range fishing trip one to remember.

This boat is equipped with state of the art, SIMRAD electronic navigation, and fish finding equipment, including a real-time 3 dimensional bathometric mapping computer. We feature top of the line rods and reels. Bottom fishing reels are freshly spooled with 50 – 80 pound spectra with mono top shots. For salmon we use 12 – 20 pound rods and reels spooled with 20 pound mono. All the tackle we use is light enough to feel every bite. This gear keeps the sport in sport fishing.

Our extensive inventory of safety equipment far exceeds charter industry standards. The boat is heated and well ventilated for year round comfort, has a complete restroom and is always exceptionally clean throughout.

We limit the number of fishermen to ensure plenty of room and opportunity to catch fish.
